Can anyone tell me where the speedometer sensor is?
The speedo doesnt work, can anyone tell me how to fix it?
I have a 1990 F350 7.3L 4X4 E4OD auto.
Thanks, Jeremy
Since you have a 4x4 your speedo will be on the output cone of the transfer case. You should be able to see it if you sit under your truck and look at the top rear side of your transfer case.
Just a note since mine did the same thing.
My transfer case oil pump went south and the first symptom was the speedo began to go silly than the thing would slip outa gear at will.
oops, he's right. I missed that. It's a cable about a quarter of an inch in diameter, and it runs from the transfer case to the firewall, and through a few other things if you have cruise.
Yes Dave I got the truck, very happy. I'm going away for the weekend so I wont be doing anything to it until sunday. Ill let you know when I have a chance to do it.
Thanks Jeremy
Hi Dave Looked at the cable I dont see a gear on the end of the cable just a small shaft that looks fine. Is there suppose to be a gear on the end of the cable? If not then is the problem internal?
Thanks, Jeremy
that is most certianly your problem then. There should be a gear on that cable for sure. You'll have to replace it, probably with the help of a speedo shop to get the right one.
