I have a new issue on my 98 133K miles that just started 2 weeks ago and its really annoying. I have been banging my head on all the rear suspension parts looking for a loose component but no luck. I think this is different than the "clunking" in the rr end as noted by this forum in previous post. Hard to discribe but it sounds like high pitch "snapping" sound, or like hitting a piece of metal with a hammer. It only occurs when shifting into drive and accelerating or shifting into reverse (ie backing out of the driveway). Does not occur all the time. Looked at the spare tire, tight, looked for loose shocks, tight, bushings look OK. The rr end fluid was changed last weekend and did not remedy. I thought U-joints but, put the rr end up on jackstands spun the wheels in drive and reverse and could not duplicate. Drives fine, no whinning no vibration. Any ideas? track bar, stabalizer bar etc ????
