From what I just read on the two web sites is that leds are not brighter and cannot be rated like the stock bulb are because they don't through the light all around like the OEM's bulbs. If you really don't need them why buy they I'm sure that they cost more money than the OEM

People buy them because they look good and give kind of a "High Tech" look.

That's what I have found out. However, I have added a few LED addons which may need some resistors.

Many other carmakers have gone to LEDs--GM for one. Why does Ford continue to use filament bulbs? Anyone know?

Foed usually stays the tried and true way of building cars and trucks they donn't push their R&D out onto the public for their long term evaluations of the latest products like GM does. One other reason maybe is to use LEDs and make them work properly it requires a capasitor (not the correct word but I can't think of the correct word it is like the module in a florssent light, I know I didn't spell that word correctly either) any way one of those modules are needed to work the LEDs on like a 3rd brake lamp on a late model Explorer, and they are very exspensive. Cadillacuses them for their brake lamps if you ever had to replace one of those lamps you would have to remorgage your house to buy one. When I worked in the Ford Dealer the '94/'97 T-Birds would come in because the owner would get a ticket for having a tail lamp out but it was the marker lamp on the trunk lid that the LEDs would quit working I beleive that those lamps were around about$125.00 per side and those lamps didn't have one of those modules in them.
