Question timing-302

If anybody can suggest a easy way to check for top dead center. Put new cam in and timing chain and yes the timing marks were right on. Engine run before i replaced the cam. 87 F150 4x4 302 5.0L.
Thanks

pull all the plugs and stick a wad of aluminum foil in #1.
Put a wrench on the crank and turn the engine over in the correct direction until the foil gets blown out (so don't stand in the way either - no sense loosing an eye)
Now you are near TDC. Stick a chopstick or plastic tube (or something simular) in #1 all the way until it touches the piston; and rotate the crank back and forth until you are sure the piston is all the way up. Thats TDC.
Cheers,
