towing concerns

I recently bought an 01 F250 7.3/4x4 and I want to use it to tow my jeep. I also want to lift it but I am unaware of the towing characteristics with a lifted truck. Is there a recommended maximum lift height/tire size that would still be good as a tow vehicle? I am currently looking at a 6 1/2 in lift to fit 37 in tires on my super duty. Would this be bad?

If you're gonna use a trailer you might want to make sure you can get a ball mount with enough drop to keep the trailer level, after installing the lift kit and 37 inchers.

All the steel drops I could find for 10 inches are only rated for 5k (which I got). Other then that you have to go to aluminum if you want that 10K rating. I would look at the 10k-15k frame hitch/receiver first, then buy the max. drop recommended by the OEM, and then buy the trailer. You can buy a tag a long trailer (lunette) where you can sub. a 2 5/16 ball coupler. Then buy your tires to fit that at its max. height.

Watch your gear ratios too, the bigger the tire, the more the ratio changes. When I was running 38s on my Crew Cab, I would have to downshift for some hills with a loaded trailer, but when I went to 33s, I could take the same hill, with the same load and not have to downshift. Just something else to be aware of, I've also heard that depending on sidewall construction, strength etc, there may be more movement etc in the tires.
