OK, I'm sure this has been talked about before, but my dome light (and the door lights as well as the bed light) is not shutting off when I close my doors. I shut off my truck and left for 45 minutes and the lights were still on! I have checked the panel dim switch, slammed all the doors repetedly, and eventually disconected my battery. If I leave the key in the forward "on" position, the "door ajar" light never shuts off.
The courtesy light switches in these trucks are in the door latches. To access them you have to remove the door trim panels.
Quite often though you can fix them by spraying lots of WD40 (only) into the door latches and opening and closing the doors a few times. That frees up and cleans the switches and usually they will work again.
I also had this problem but now it has progressed to none of the lights coming on when the door is opened. The Door Ajar light is on but no lights, just the opposite of what happened previously. So to access the door pin switch you need to remove the trim panel down by your feet? I remember someone mentioning a 'door dinger' switch which caused his problems. Where is this located and whats the technical name? Thanks.
The door ajar switch is seperate from the dome light switch and it in the door latch too.
Before pulling it apart I would try the WD40 in the latch trick and see if that works.
Wonderful fix. It was driving me nuts and it only was going on for about a week. I told my friend who has had the same problem for about a year. Hopefully it works for him too.
