To some degree I feel your frustration. However, your basis for "hating the local cops" is as valid as any reason I've ever heard for hating all black people, or all mexican people, or all asian people, or women, or jews or catholics. That is to say it's totally invalid.

You'd think they would know better than to bite the hand that feeds them.

And here comes something out of left field. . .

Except that your post has nearly nothing to do with the thread, I never said that i will forever and always unconditionally hate local cops because this one one time gave me a major ticket for something pretty minor. All i said is "So at this point I HATE local cops". "at this point" is the qualifier, so even though i did say "HATE" it is restricted to a certain point in time.

You a local cop or something?

Justin

i'm not big on locals, one stopped me for lack of a license plate light, gave me a warning and 5 days to fix it, i had to get another officer to sign off on it, went and found him, had him drive me to my truck and show him(got to ride in the back of the car, never wanna do that again) he looked at it, looked at me, shook his head and said, "this is why that cop and i don't get along, that is such a little thing and that cop and i have had many disagreements, we'll leave it at that"(we live in a city, so street lights light it up, plus i've driven like this for 1.5 years, with many cops behind me to run my plates, beat up truck). He signed off on it and sent me on my way. That was the one and only local that I like.

FWIW: I carry 1156,1157, and 194 bulbs along with a spare flasher relay under my front seat and the tools to change them. If I go off road where I might break a headlamp I carry an extra along with spare lens covers (I put trailer lights on my truck - $5 each for a whole assembly and DOT approved;-) ).

Yeah, nearly nothing, but not totally nothing. And I apprecitate the clarification, but your original thread speaks for itself.

Like most cop bashing that I see on this site you're holding an entire group of people responsible for the actions of one individual. If you wanted to make a point about a lame local cop then look at the bottom of the ticket where his name should be and hold that individual responsible.

I've always wondered why the people on these forums so very infrequently bothers to identify the town, the PD, the individual officer, and judge by NAME. What's everyone scared of? Trust me, if you did you would gain alot of believability (is that even a word?) and credibility.

I whole heartedly support roasting lame cops, but it has to be done in a thinking, critical manner. Leave the broad brush generalizations and emotion out, let the actions of the lame cop speak for them self. Otherwise you risk looking like a knuckle dragging, blow-hard cop hater who thinks the police are always out to get him. *Boo-hoo the police wrote me a ticket now I hate all cops, boo-hoo* That's what I'm hearing.

And no, I'm not a local cop. MALL SECURITY! Now show some respect!

Wiggins Colo had a town cop that was pretty lame - a bunch of us men were standing around a bailer that had lost a wheel while being towed through town. The cop came strutting up and barking about blocking the street. My dog came up behind him and peed all over his leg and storm trouper boots.

Now that is showing some respect for the local law.

That sucks. I've stopped people for the same thing but it was done more so advise them that their lights were out. As long as their hazzards worked, they were sent on their way and just told to be careful Unfortunately in police work, we have the just the same amount of morons that are present in other lines of work and those guys give us all a bad name. Unfortunately common sense seems to no longer apply to some. Good luck
