I am purchasing a complete axle assy this week and whenever I look up on line for a source (auto salvage) it lists axle assys for 89 F150 having ABS. Was this standard for all 1989 F150's then? Reason I am asking as one source asked me if I had ABS. If it was standard, why would they ask?
Speaking of ABS...
I was riding in heavy rain in my 91 F350 dully w/ABS and went to brake at red light when all of a sudden the whole rearend started to bounce. I released foot on brake and tried again and got same thing. Brake peddle also pulsed. It scared the heck out of me as it was very violent. Thought the rearend was coming out.
Spoke w/a mechanic and he stated the ABS in rear was pulsating and going from left side to right side.
Now, like I said it was pooring rain.
Oddly enough, it has stopped.
I do not want this to happen when pulling my boat this summer so what was it and how do I remedy?
I wouldn't worry about, thats what abs does, but with a load i wouldn't worry about it to much as the weight will help keep the the rear in line, as the duals made the abs seem worse then it from the added traction if you will of the duals.
Thanks alot.
Thought it may have been something repairable.
It concerned me as I have traveled in heavy rains before w/o this happening.
Again...thanks.
