I have a 83 f100 with a transplanted 302 and a c6 trannie. The tag on the rear end says 3.50
I turn 3,000 RPM at 65 mph with 31 inch tires.
Question is if I put in the 3.25 carrier I have extra in the shop how much will my RPM's drop at 65 Mph.
Please help. The mileage is killing me. Thanks.....Dave
Are you sure it's a 3.50 rear end? According to my calculations, you are turning closer to 2500 at 65 with 3.50 gears. 3000 sounds like you've got 4.10's. With a 3.25 gear, you should be turning around 2300 at 65 (plus any slippage from the auto trans.
I have a 85 w/ a 95 302HO crate motor, C5 3-sp. auto, 3.08 rear end. I'm turning 2600rpm at 65mph. 255/70/15 wheels. If it weren't for the 3.08 rear I wouldn't get on the hiway. I really need a AOD and a 3.55 or so rear.
Maybe you need a 3.08 to go with your overdrive tranny?
