If you connect the two batteries with relays it will cause them to discharge into each other. This is not recommended for battery life. Use the isolator, not relays.

info/buy whod'a thunk it!! lol found an RV parts dealer here that has the isolators in stock, $55 Cdn!! Lookin' good!!

The RV places do this all the time and know what works. They usually have the best deals because they buy in quantity. Good luck with your project.

Home Brew Isolator

I made up my own isolator nearly 20 years ago when I was able to get a heavy duty diode and a good sized heat sink for it. It's still working fine keeping my aux. battery fully charged. Those 2 parts are all that's necessary. Commercial isolators would be the best way to go since they are reasonable and I made mine when I couldn't afford a ready made job. I used surplus parts.
