FICM
Well a week and a half later I finally got a recording on the VDR for the dealership. The tech loaded the findings into the Ford Hotline and they said it was definately the FICM. They authorized a new FICM and reiterated to check the wiring harness for chafing. If the truck stalls again, Ford says I will automatically get the FICM harness as well. I hope this does it. I do feel a little better now that they actually have a new part on the truck (hope it's the right one). I don't feel like going rounds with the dealership on the first recorder (still not convinced that it was operable) but the problem would have been fixed in 2 days instead of 11 if the original recorder worked. Remember, if you receive a flight recorder, test it before you leave the dealership. Got the truck with a warm engine so waiting for morning to see if the new FICM helped with my excessive smoke on startup. My bumper to bumper expires in 300 miles so if my truck behaves itself it will be rewarded with some aftermarket goodies (all found at motorhaven of course)!
