3 spd trans strength
first posting, hope all is done properly. Have a 68 F-100 300 3spd, Indy floor shifter. Recent 2.75 gears, due to keeping cab quiet on highway and acheiving fuel mileage. Happen to have 428 (Edelbrock heads and RPM intake etc)
out of 67 mustang that will be out of commission. I just installed these parts and would like to run the 428 in the truck as it is because it is alot easier to set this engine up and work the bugs out in the truck, besides the fun factor. Will be building a very mild 428 after to put in truck. Any ideas on torque capabilities on my 3spd? Will it grenade on my first full throttle application? I like the low highway rpm's of my setup now, and think the 428 will absorb the huge gear spacing I currently have. thanks
The best truck show on the net.No tranny can stand up to constant abuse without some failure, but your tranny should stand up to an occasional romp of the ol FE.
