fender trim removal

Hi all,

I have a '94 Ranger that I recently bought from my Dad. I think I want to remove the fender trim (big black plastic things) and maybe the plastic door trim too (about thigh high on the doors and bed side). Any ideas? Do I really want to take these off, or will I find holes and scratches? I really wanted to keep this one straight and nice, but we went 'wheelin' a few weeks back, and I tore up the side of the box really bad. I hate trees!!!

Thanks,
Pete

If you have a 4x4 and remove the fender flares, you will find a series of holes in the metal fender. The door edge trim guards are attached with adhesive, so there are no holes behind them.

I also have a 4x4..I was tempted to pull them because I don't like the stock design. I'd like to replace them with something else..anyone know if there are aftermarket ones? I'd like to find thinner ones like those on the TRD Tacomas.
