My family and I just returned from a 3000 mile trip from Houston to Tucson AZ.
On the way out there we pulled a trailer hauling my 68 F100 long bed to my dads and dropped it off. (We are relocating there soon)
Drove between 80 and 90 all the way, up hill and over dale without a hiccup.
Coming back I got it up to 105mph twice before the wife caught me.( I wanted to "bury" the speedo)
The truck('04 supercrew FX4X4 w/ 18" wheels) now has 12,680 mile on it, and I could not ask for a better truck.
For what it's worth, I don't feel lucky for the lack of problems with my truck, I just feel average!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

just curious how did u get it up to 105 as my 04 5.4 lariat screw with only run up to about 95 or 98 before the gov kicks in did u use a reprogramer ???? and how was your gas mileage
I have never had the gov kick in? The mileage was not very good, (haven't done the math yet). But I know it would have been better if we had cruised at a more resonable pace. At the time of the trip, the time spent there was more valuable than the money spent on fuel to get there.

My truck cuts out at 99. But several people have had their truck up to as much as 110 without it limiting. That's without them using a tuner.
I have a Superchips, but don't feel the need to mess with the limit.
Is your 68 long bed complete? Curious about how much the combo trailer and truck weighed. Must be upwards of 5k I would think. Maybe 6500 if the carrier is heavy and you tossed in a few spare parts, etc.
That's serious towing for a light truck.
Chris
The 68 is pretty much complete, there is always a couple of things that need to be done. And thats not counting the things that you want to do. I didn't weigh the trailer and truck, but after we got there and unloaded it it was like driving a different truck.

I think the odometer moves furthur when you drive faster. Just kidding, good to hear your truck did well. Having great luck with mine so far also. Don't think I need to drive that fast though. Last time I did the cops threw a spike strip in front of me because I was ignoring those noisy siren thingies.
I guess that i should have been more specific and said it was 1180 mile each way from my door to my dads door, but that we put three thousand miles total during the trip. My bad.
