retro fit 351w
Edelbrock performer series cam, carb (1406) and manifold as well as MSD Blaster ignition with super stock coil, and a distributor out of a 85 bronco (vacuum advance)
sounds great! excellent rpm range (up to 3800 not broke in enough to really push it but there I've already gained 800 rpm over what I had) but there is one small pain in the rear that is showing its face... the second I put any load on the engine it dogs out (just normal driving) unless I'm on the gas (about 1/2 petal) it acts like it is missing. have played with timing helps but not the cure.. have timing set @ 10 deg btc with vacuum line off and plugged. a little confused as to which port on the carb to hook it up to as well one is listed as a "ported vacuum port" the other is listed as a "full time vacuum port" which is the correct one? and the most frustrating part is it runs better without and vacuum advance and I know that this is not the answer.
do I need to time the engine differently? change the gap on the plugs (what gap would you recommend)? or what? thanks for all of the input you gave before I started this; with that added knowledge I didn't run into one problem thanks again!!!!!
