Quick fix box repair?

Hello!
New guy here, quick question. I am replacing my extremely rusted box, on an 92' F250, with one that needs minor repair around the top of the wheel openings. Nobody around here has fender flares in stock (order only), and I want to know if I can cut off about 2" at the top of the wheel well's and still be able to mount the flares with no problem? I wouldn't mind cutting more but I am only going to be using 33's or 35's all around and I don't want to cut to much so the truck looks like it has tires that are to small. Any suggestings on brands would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

yes you should be fine! the rear wheel wells are easier to mess with than front ones but thats just me. in the back you have LOTS of room to cut and mount flares! 2" won't be a problem

Thanks for the quick response! But why is there a difference between the amount that you can cut off in the front and back?

That would be because of the inner fenders on the front are bigger pain to deal with than the rear.

hold on...most fender flares mount to the lip inside the wheel well...so if you go cutting, there may not be aywhere to mount to..

if you get cutout flares, you have to cut the fender anyways..

I don't know about the 92's but on the older trucks like mine Bushwacker tells you to rivet the cut out portion of fender back up so you have a lip to screw the flare too and keep it sturdy. So if you do cut the fenders be sure to save the portion you chop off. Otherwise there's nothing to support the lower edge of the flare.
