Last night while on my way to the store my brake pedal went to the floor! I still had some brakes but I ended up in the middle of the intersection. Thank god it was late. This morning on the way to the dealer same problem every time I stepped on the brakes I had to pump them otherwise while at the light it would start to creep. Then 2 blocks from the dealer I had brakes again! the dealer says never heard of that. My life sucks! So he said he would check it so at least if it happens again my wife could sue somebody.
It happened to me too a few months after taking delivery of my 04 Lariat SCrew. Just as you described except mine never came back all the way, just pedal to the floor with some braking.
Dealer first said they were going to replace the master cylinder but in the end they just did a full bleed of the system and it has been fine ever since. No explanation, however, as to why it would happen months after delivery.
If I recall correctly several people here on the board have experienced the same thing.
I had the same problem myself. That was at 3k. After I pumped them the one last time, they went back to normal and it hasn't happened since. It now has 32k on it. Never did figure out why. Mechanic at the dealer said it may have been a piece of dirt or something in the master cylinder that was letting the fluid by the seals that cleared itself out.
Had the same thing happen to my 04 with about 8,000 miles on.. Master cyclinder was replaced and that fixed it..No problems since, now have 19,000 on...
I appreciate the advice but its the dealers problem, still under warranty. If it was air, the pedal would of stayed on the floor, plus if air suddenly gets in a hydraulic system there would have to be a leak. Also air just doesnt dissapear in a sealed system. They better change something because the damn thing almost got me killed. Brakes arent the kind of thing that you just let fix itself and move on. I need to know that I can stop. Ive delt with crap like this on my older vehicles. I bo ught new and pay out the **** so I dont have to worry about crap.
Did you notice the pedal pushing farther down a little before it went to the floor? Mine seems to be pushing a little further down, just thought it was brake pad wear.
Your dealer is an idiot. I would suggest taking it to another dealership. Your truck is equipped with a hydroboost brake system like the ones on the Lincolns. They are noted to failure. Any electrical problems, any computer problems, any systems failures and your brakes will do exactly as you described. It may be in the hydroboost itself, the CPU, a wire, it can be anything. It is not fixed and don't assume that it won't happen again as it will, I can assure of that. Although this type of brake system is becoming more popular with auto manufacturers, I personally think it is the most dangerous part of these trucks. It is used to create more fluid pressure for the anti-lock system that they claim they can't get with a bigger vacuum booster and master cylinder. Bottom line, this type of system is cheaper, although the parts are incredibily expensive.
I think you need to look under the hood again, I just checked my 04 FX4 F-150 scab and two other F-150s, they all had vacuum boosters. The only trucks that I found hydro-boosters on were diesels. Is there more than one brake system going on?
may sound stupid but if I push my brake pedal down then let it off and hit
it again one time and at that time I have full pedal would they be something
wrong with the brakes I do have brakes on the first push but if I pump it one
time I have full pedal what would cause this
Normally that's a classic description of air in the brake lines. My 'firms up' just a little after one pump. I test drove a couple of Supercrews, and they did the same thing. Not sure it's not a normal thing on this anti-lock system.

This happend to me on a 64 1/2 Mustang I had back in 1979 just as I was coming up to a real busy intersection. Not a good feeling. Drove the rest of the way home using the emergency brake. One of the brake lines had came off the hub on the back wheel. Got it home with no dents.
I just took delivery yesterday on my 05 Screw and today brake pedal has to travel long way to begin stopping truck. Its at the stealership right now with about 60 miles on it. Service guy started truck and tested pedal without even moving and said there was definitely a problem. I'll let you know what they do to it and if it helps.
Same thing happened to me with 4000 miles on my FX4 SCREW. Going through an intersection brake pedal went to the floor never came back. Had to get flat bedded to Dealer. They replaced the Anti lock manifold, the ECU, and the master cyl.
Be sure to report this to the National Safety Board.
Tooooo many problems with my F150. Rear Clunk, Brakes, Cam Phaser, and Transfer case. Tuesday I pick up my 2005 F250 Powerstroke.
I'm taking a hit on the trade-in, but I don't care.
