Codes Codes, How????
Ok, I hear all this talk about checking the codes when your engine/transmission does this or that. I have had my truck for 6 years with only having to rebuild the transmission (under warranty), and putting on Manual hubs. I've done all the maintenance on it but would love to check these codes I hear about. How do I get the computer/tool to do this? how much is it? Or are you guys taking it to a shop to get these codes?

Take a trip down to your local AutoZone and purchase one of their hand help code checkers. They cost about $40 but they are worth it. You just plug it in and peform a few tests. Easy to use and well worth the diagnostics help!

You don't need any special tools for pre-96 trucks. Follow the procedure outlined at the URL below.

Those $40 code readers are essentially a jumper wire & LED in a plastic housing. Big waste of money.
