Oil sending unit
I have a 89 F150 w/302 4x4 5speed
At times it says I have no Preasure.
The temp gauge doesn't work.
When I lose presure it doesnt sound like it is knocking, it sounds normal. In 5th gear doing 30 @ 1000 rpms when I push on the gas I loose presure (engine light doesnt come on). In 2nd and in between shifts I will loose pressure and the engine light comes on but it sounds normal. any Ideas

It could be electrical. The voltage regulator or the ground to the guages could be going bad. To nip the possibilty of engine problems in the bud, I would get a mechanical oil pressure guage and screw it in place of where the oil pressure sending unit mounts. this will show your true oil pressure. After you know that the engine is OK, then I would go from there. good luck.

Ya, and when you get one of those mechanical oil guages, make sure it has (or you can get) a tapered connection for screwing into the engine block....don't know how the 302's are, but I've had a helluva time trying to adapt the guage I bought to my 4.9....all because they didn't give me a tapered apapter...sheeeesh....
