390 light mods

Ok On a stock 390 you do this
901 CAM
RPM intake
670 CARB
Headers
D.U.I.
How much power will it be making?, and is it enough to have a fun street truck?

Personally, don't spend the money on your DUI but get a set of car 390 pistons. Then probably around 340hp... and yes you will have fun.

Well I wanted to upgrade the dizzy and coil but didn't want to get MSD and wire up the box and everything.

I like the DUI. But if you're on a budget, then Mike's right. Get the compression ratio higher first!

I think the DUI is a great, simple combination of vacuum advance and hot spark. But, I doubt it provides much more bang than the duraspark or stock dizzy with pertronics. It does reduce clutter. But, then again, the DUI is custom curved to your detailed engine specs.

I have to agree with Mike and Greg....The DUI is Nice....But you'll get more bang for the buck by upgrading your pistons, to get the CR up more to get more outof your cam... Like I said..the DUI is nice..But ya only upgrade to a high dollar Ignition after you have taken care of the Motor!! IMHO!!!!

Good Luck!!

I actually upgraded the ignition on the old 65 with a Duraspark dizzy and ran a GM HEI module. Very easy to wire, nice and clean, looks stock and nobody knows... Cost including salvage yard parts (got lucky on the dizzy), about $30.
