took the dogs for a good walk into the back woods today. the new puppy she's 8 months old now. she's a cute little mix of black lab and doberman. i'd say she has the mellow temper of a lab but the quick wits of a doberman. she's already the boss of the food dish and eats the other dogs cookies. and though it took her a long time to take to me, she now almost never leaves my side. somebody told me this is a characteristic of dobermans to become very attached to only one person. anyway the good news is she had her first real swim today. the water was still covered in ice so there was parts more skating than swimming, but she took to the water like something that takes to water
buddy our yellow lab/retriever is still having a hard time accepting that i'm the boss. since he didn't come back when i called him he had stay on his leash and miss out on the swimming. but he managed to stay on his mat today all thru dinner without too much crying. he's also learned to get off the couch when i come in the room. though he'll miss the cats when my girlfriend moves out this summer, he's taken a real shine to the new puppy and the two are virtually inseperable.
Yea, pets are a wonderful thing to come home to. They never gripe about anything. If it wasn't for our dog I probably would never get any exercise. You gotta walk them sometimes. LOL.
