swap 351s

heyhey does anybody know if a '85 c6 tranny off a 351 will fit on a '78 351?
im pretty sure the 78 has a c6 on it too but i dont know if they changed them. thanks

Is the '78 351 a windsor? If it's a 351m then no...

hey, i know the '85 is windsor but i dont know about the 78. cant find the numbers on the block{filthy, covered in 20 years of crud}. is there anyway to tell which it is from...layout?

Take a look at the valve covers, 6 bolts is a windsor, 8 is a C/M, being a 78 engine, it's most likley it's a M

yeah the 78 is 351m the 85 is windsor...well could i swap the carbs? see, the 85 had caught fire from the carb, but i need more time to fix this. so i got the 78 for $500 and now the tranny is shot. im still new at this stuff so i greatly appreciate any help.thanks
