dizzy question!

im changing the points in my car to electronic ignition and have a distributor for a later model 302 like mid 1980's but when i took the points distributor out of my car today the little gear and shaft on the points distributor was alot smaller than the later model 302 electronic distributor...what years did it change? will a dizzy out of a 351 windsor work?

A dizzy out of a 351W won't work, it will be too tall.

just exactly what i was afraid of....why is the later model dizzy gear alot bigger than the points style if they are both for a 302?

yeah but the shaft is alot smaller...

Just use the dist you now have. Install a Pertronix unit in it, add a hotter coil, new wires and plugs and you'll be done with it. Only two wires to hook up ( to the coil) takes thirty minutes tops for the whole install.
