OK I have a 2004 lariat with 373 gears, i put aftermarket wheels on my truck and went with a 265 70 18, Well this has apparently triggered a code in the computer, that has shut off my cruise control.. The guys in the shop say the tires are to big that i need to get smaller tires in order for it to reset. anyone got this problem....
frost13 to be straight yes. you will be surprised at tire size affects the speedo even a half inch . a computer fault is in some cases puts the ecm into default and no matter what it needs to be properly reset. as the man seems not to say if it worked before but only since i put the tire and wheels on. and as a tech i have to asume the size is the start point on the repair and would check the speedo cal. against the books first before going any deeper on a diag. maybe even put the stock tires and wheels on and clear the fault , drive and see if it returns.
I can't see how changing the tire size would "Cut off" your criuse control. The speedo will be off and can be recalibrated. Let us know what ends up fixing the cruise.
well, just put 275 60 18 on my truck today, the calibration was off pretty good, instead of my cruise able to be turned on at 48 mph as per the manual, it will engage at 60 still a difference between what happened before, I trust my techs, basically i would need to put the factory tires and wheels back on and see where the computer is calibrated at then see if they can adjust to the new 1/2 inch taller tires, any how it works and im happy... Just kinda weird though...
