Slow Traffic Keep Right!

Is that news to you? I was taught, and in many places there are signs that say "slow traffic keep right". But here in FL there are so many people who either have never heard that, or don't care, that other drivers are getting in the habit of passing on the right! (Which used to be illegal). Example: On my commute to work, there is a guy who drives in the left lane about 5 mph under the speed limit. He does this for about 5 miles, and then gets into the right lane about a quarter mile before he turns RIGHT into his place of work. Why? I have actually thought about finding his truck after he has gone into work, and leaving a polite note about the rules of the road. That is very early in the AM when traffic is light. As the day progresses, the roads here are choked w/ cars going slow. Some days I never get into 4th gear (35 mph). I'm not a speed demon, I just wanna get home! I guess that's my rant for the day...

Or if they are that uncomfortable driving they should stay home! Stupid people should not be allowed to drive. There is an intersection of two large highways in the middle of Tulsa. Every morning traffic slows to a crawl because some idiot waits until the last possible second to get in the lane to change highways. All 4 lanes of traffic stop as he works his way over. I say screw 'em! They should have planned about 1/2 mile in advance. What iritates me even more is that on weekends when traffic is light people slow down there out of habit. OUT OF HABIT! Drive!

You oughta drive out here in Cali. People regularly drive in the far left lane out here. Even worse are the people who drive in the second from left lane. I pass more cars on the right than I do on the left on a regular basis.

There are some people who feel that as long as they're doing the speed limit or close to it, they have a right to be in the left lane, regardless of the legality. They're ignorant, stupid, and inconsiderate.

There. I feel better.

Daggone it makes me mad when I am passing someone on the left but someone who is flying down the road passes me on the right before i have a chance to return to the right lane!
I mean, I am doing things right in that I stay right until I come to a slower vehiclae and pass him/her, but as i try to obtain a safe distance before returning to the right lane, some A-**** zips up and passes me on the right.
It is anrachy on the roads, I tell ya!!

Have you ever fell victim to the Florida Whip? I was actually just reading about a guy that just had his car hit by a retarded driver down there. It seems pretty common as that sparked alot of stories from a few other guys as well, also alot of driving slow in the left lane and causing accidents.

On the 2-lane,40mph road to the mall,I fall victim to the non-signaling/lightning quick Florida lane-change known as "The Whip". A black Dodge V-10 p/u on my left, and me in the slow lane (right). He came up quick on my drivers side, then, with the the speed of a Disney lazer-light show, swerved into my lane and *BLAM*!..caught my drivers-side front fender. His lane-change was complete.
This is a direct quote from the Chevy Celebrity Club of America.

I hate it when there is an intersection and the guy at the intersection decides he will merge with your lane and stay on the shoulder till you pass them!!! It ticks me off!! If you're gonna do that do it fast and go with the flow of traffic or wait your turn untill the way is clear! I don't know about other states but in Texas it's pretty common (on two lane roads)for a slow moving vehicle to get on the shoulder to let you pass. It's a nice guesture, but it's better just to go with the flow of traffic.
Ok, I better stop before my blood pressure shoots up thru the roof!

Just today one of my co-workers told me about a wreck he was in yesterday. He was driving on the interstate, and a car was trying to merge, so some moron STOPPED on the interstate to let the guy in. My friend stopped in time, but several people behind him did not, resulting in a 4 car accident. No one was able to get a tag number on the idiot who caused the accident; he just drove away, completely oblivious. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Oh man tell me about it. Thankfully I've moved to the sticks and work in a suburb so I don't have to deal with these idiots anymore! But all my years in the SF Bay Area taught me to hate people who do this. I don't know if they think they are entitled to use the left lane to go 55 (CA speed limit is 65) or if they think it's their responisbility to slow those of us who WANT to do 80 in the left lane down! Either way cops need to start giving out tickets for going too slow (Like that'll happen!) I've even been in some extreme cases where I'm forced to pass the idiot on the right; which I HATE doing; just have them speed up, pass me, then get ahead of me and slow down again! These "people" do sem to think it's their job to slow the rest of us down. I have dreams of flooring it and as the turbo whines at 30psi, I crash right through their back window - then I remember that I don't want to chip a headlight

On the subject you know what else pisses me off about CA "drivers"? The idiots who SEE your blinker when they are 1/4 MILE behind you and then SPEED UP to block your lane change! What the hell is that? Are you so competitive that you can't have someone else on the freeway in front of you? Or are you so dumb that you actually do the math in your head like this:

(6000lb F250 + 5000lb boat changing lanes 1/4 MILE in front of me) * (silly little Honda + ABS + Airbag) = No threat to my life SPEED UP and prevent the lane change!

Not only are these people; and there are a LOT of them out here; extremely rude but DANGEROUS! How many accidents have I seen on the news where some idiot does this and dies when the semi with 2 trailers hits him? Whatever happened to courtesy and respect on the road? I'm only 30 and I remember respect and courtesy on the road - has it really disappeared that quickly!?

There is almost no respect or courtesy on the road or off. It is all about "ME", and what "I" want or need. I find very few nice people on the road.

My truck is old, slow, and ugly (and I'm a little ugly too I guess), and while pulling my trailer as soon as I see 4 or 5 cars behind me I ride the shoulder to let them pass. But it is as most of you say. There are times I wish I had a cannon mounted on the front of my truck. Hmmmm......................., any good army navy stores out there?

One thing I have noticed is many can not drive without following the little yellow line. I have watched many who stay in the left lane actually start to go into the emergency vehicle turn arounds because the little yellow line goes that way. You can see them catch themselves when they realize it is a turn around and not there lane.

Washington, DC . . . Newsflash. . . . .

People drive wherever they want to!!
EVERY day, a bunch of morons will drive down the shoulder of the road(s) going in and out of DC. They just don't care.

I laughed my 'heiney' off just the other day. Seems some lady in an Expedition couldn't wait like (most) everyone else. She went FLYING down the shoulder of Route 5 (Branch Ave.), with a Cadillac right behind her.

Well, I was hoping a cop would be in traffic (they NEVER are) when all of a sudden, it was 'Christmas-time.' Little blue and red lights flashing like crazy!
This Maryland State Trooper got not only one, but two!!!
When we finally got next to them, I couldn't help it. . . I rolled down the window and yelled "Get 'em, Trooper!!!"
Ha! The Trooper gave us a , and grinned.

Lastly, the guy that was driving the Caddy. . . he was in cuffs.

wow!! talk about timing! I was just complaining to my better 1/2 about this exact thing.

i drive between vancouver, Wa and Seattle, Wa every day doing deliveries around the puget sound area, and i dont know how many idiots I have to pass on the right side because Wa state has a STUPID law saying trucks cant use the far left lane on a 3 lane road. so that leaves us 2 lanes and when an old person or even a truck won't get out of the middle lane, you have to go around on the right or risk an 'improper lane travel' ticket!!

then, they have to speed up and stay in front of you, just so they aren't inconvienienced by a big rig in front of them!!

anyone have a pic of what a big truck can do when it climbs in the car thru the rear window??
