86 rear brakes
does anyone out there know why my rear brakes won't lock up or even stop my rear wheels when jacked up. brakes new,cylinders new.ajusted right. can slow wheels but can't stop them no matter how hard i press.

could be the weight adjuster which almost cuts the back breaks off when unloaded and engages them more when loaded, i dont think any F-150's had this but i know my friends 85 F-250 did and it screwed up sometimes

otto: Is this the valve looking thing mounted on the rear axle housing? We had a company pickup with a valve looking gizzmo that the rear brake lines went to and it had a rod/plunger setup that looked like it worked when the axle housing twisted. Does the axle twist more or less depending on the load in the truck and compensate the rear brake pressure? This was a wild guess when I was under there looking at it.

Yea thats the valve but i dont think the axle housing twist it just recognizes the the springs are compressed (frame towards axle) and it will apply more pressure to the rear brakes, the arm and whole assembly is goofy looking but thats what it is <weight adjuster> lol
