gear swap question

I have a 9 inch rear end with 4:11 gears that has a worn out yoke, broken differential case, and pretty much every bearing you can think of is worn out. Im guessing at this point a new rear end is the way to go. I got a good deal on a 4:11 ring & pinion, and since the truck is 4x4 i need to use this ratio. My question is, can i put the 4:11 ring and pinion into another 9 inch rear end that has a different original gear ratio (such has 3:50)?

Any help really appreciated.

Yes you can. It should work fine. Read the 9" experts thread on this same page, though, and make sure you really have a 9".

Make sure it's a 9, and count your splines. Unless you are Mr. Mechanic, or like doing things two or three times, or like loud noises from your diff, I suggest you find someone to build this up for you. Someone who can prove he (she) has done dozens if not thousands of 9 inch builds. Can you say "crush collar"? Can you say "pinion depth", "runout" and "gear pattern". All at the same time? Do you have a magnetic based dial indicator? A 300 lb/ft torque wrench? Happy motoring...
