Are the "parts store" code readers any good? Just the simple type not the Snap-on type ( I ain't wealthy) If so what brand.I'm a canuck and there is a sale on at Canadian Tire right now for 60 bucks . Need input.....

The cheap ones work just fine. Just plug it in, turn on the key and count the light flashes of beeps.

Save your money & just use a jumper wire & use the check engine light . You can buy the appropiate size pins to fit the check connector & solder two of them to a piece of wire .
