I have seen on here a few posts on guys that have used a ''''u joint shaft''' double carbon instead of the cv one ....I have an 86 and what is intailed in that job.....Is is a big change and what needs to be changed or bought please ...THANKS
i come in contact with ujoint driveshafts almost everyday
you can either get a double cardan or a single cardan driveshaft for your at or mt b2
lenghts vary i just sold a single cardan today. i'm currently going to get another one today around 12.
i have a double cardan chromed coated. it's pretty easy to do you just need a 12point socket or a 1/2 socket. snug fit.
I am looking to put a single or double cardan in my b2 but I was wanting to get one in the local/regional area if I could. I am in NC. Any suggestions?

Local yellow pages under "drivelines" or "driveshafts." When I got mine, I would get a shop on the line, say, "I have a Bronco II..." and most of the shops would say, "give me the length and tell me if you want single or double cardon."
Long time no write, but I bought my U-Joint driveshaft at O'Reilly's (sp?) for appx. $200.00. Works like a champ, but the B2 is decommissioned right now. I am still looking for a solution to my fuel injection problems. Hope I helped.
But the main thing I am trying to find out is is it an easy application ...To change it to a u joint shaft from a cv joint shaft...what is intailed, is it just a bolt on fix or what ....Are the parts on there that a bolt on u joint shaft can just fit right on .....Tony
what transmission do you have now? do you have a trans-case?
there are 3 types of double cardan shafts and 2 types of single cardan shafts.
yoke to flange , yoke to yoke flange to flange.
lenghts vary also .
My driveshaft is all weird, I put that lift kit on last night Monty, and my driveshaft stretches. Kind of like my shocks, how they spread apart.. well my driveshaft stretched to the length, is this normal?
you have a cv-boot type driveshaft. and you have a 4inch suspension lift
if so your shaft is streched to the limits if you run at high speeds you'll be looking for a new shaft real soon. the shaft can't handle the angle problem thus being your prob.

If you have a driveshaft made up, the shop will put flanges on each end of the new driveshaft just like the flanges that are on your CV style shaft. Making it a very easy unbolt-the-old-bolt-in-the-new kind of swap. After 15-20 years of sitting (if it's the original driveshaft), the bolts may not unbolt that easily, but that would be the worst part of the job.
If you try to get a used shaft from the junkyard, it is often a more difficult swap, because then you will likely need the yoke and such from the junkyard t-case.
Well I doubt I'll be looking for a new one, because the guy that made it gave me a lifetime warranty on it, and he said that I can't break it. So if it does I get to take it back to him I doubt it's stretched to it's limits because it goes out even more. When we were putting the blocks on I noticed this so we set the axle on the ground with the truck lifted up pretty high, and it stretched back almost to the bumper. My uncle has been around cars and trucks for a long time, and he's never seen something like it, but he liked it a lot.
