FE446 update and plan.
I've ordered a heapin' pile of parts from Summit:
For the rocker stand studs. (hopefully the solution to the problem of the tweaked stands: http://www.thedreyerfamily.com/69f250/ersonfubar.htm)
ARP-200-8556 Special Purpose Washer, Black Oxide, 3/8" ID - .675" OD, .120 Thickness, 10 Pack $8.99 1 $8.99
New stud nuts, just to be safe...
ARP-300-8332 12-Point Nut, 3/8-24 RH in., 7/16 in. Wrench, Steel, Black Oxide, Set of 10 $14.69 1 $14.69
for the valve covers, since I installed those 1/4-20 helicoils for the leaky hand-made Aluminum Valve covers.
ARP-621-1000 Bolt, Hex Head, Stainless Steel, 1/4 in.-20 Thread, 1.000 UHL, Set of 5 $10.88 2 $21.76
Let's get those shifts better timed. current column shift is clumsy and sloppy. Tjis is the truck version. A little taller.
BMM-80680 Automatic Shifter, Megashifter, Chevy/Mopar/Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, Each $174.95 1 $174.95
replacing stamped steel edelbrock covers...gotta stop the leaking. I hope these are tall enough for the Ersons??? Ford Motorsports
FMS-M6582B Valve Covers, Stock Height, Cast Aluminum, Black Wrinkle, Ribbed with Cobra, Big Block Ford FE, Pair $159.95 1 $159.95
FPP-1020 Head Gasket, Composition Type, 4.400 in. Bore, .041 in. Compressed Thickness, Ford Big Block FE, Each $31.88 2 $63.76
FPP-1632 Valve Cover Gaskets, Blue Stripe Cork/Rubber, Ford/Mercury/Shelby, Pair $16.95 1 $16.95
FPP-1817 Oil Pan Gasket, Multi-Piece, Rubber Coated Fiber, Ford/Mercury, Kit $11.88 2 $23.76 (2 for the windage tray already in place)
as reccomended by the TCI techs, should yield about a 2200rpm stall. I think this will help a lot at the track and in normal street driving. It should allow the motor to spin al ittle faster even in drive and not moving.
TCI-441700 Torque Converters, Saturday Night Special, Ford, C6, Each $185.95 1 $185.95
And I orderd the Nitroseal intake gaskets from Napa...the slightly larger port gaskets were $10 less...go figure.
I gotta lot of work ahead of me. I've decided to stay with my current cam. I think it is a good compromise of street/strip performance for a 3/4 ton truck. When I get everything else running consistently, I'll consider some happy juice.
I could still use some help on getting the C6 to shift at higher revs, say 5500rpm.
Got beer and BBQ, anybody coming over to help?
Well , I gotta get my $9 worth of handling out of Summit. At least the shipping was free.
There was just a bunch of other things I wanted to address while the motor is out.
I love the free shipping with Summit, with the standard $9 handling. I saw that Jegs is doing that now too.
Ya must be getting ready for that heads up race with Scoot...LOL ...
Well Right now I have a a basement full of parts...and NO Block to put them in??? So in may..when a friend makes a trip from PA down to NC...I have to come up with $900 for a block from him....And goes thru the same machining the other block did...

Russ- My Dad and I are looking at building a shop as well at some land we have just out of town. We are going through the same stage of planning...."OK, we're gonna need a slab, some plumbing, a well, spetic, get the electric hooked up...." Hopefully when it's done, I'll have a 2000 sqr ft place to put some tools and vehicles. My 1000 sqr ft shop is packed right now.

My shop will only be 1080sqft...But I think it will be big enough for my Projects?? The 70F250,the Stang, and the Vette will be housed in there.....The Explorer, the GP,and the little wagon, and the Daughters car (Aspire) will stay outside under Carports!! LOL..
The slab will cost $1620 + tax.....I have allready marked the area...leveled it and put up the framing for the foundation....I still have to put in the rebar and tie it...and run my plumbing for the drain...By the way 6" thick slab...Code only called for 4"...but at a later date? I may want to put a lift in?? and that requires 6" only where the lift points are to be...So I'll be ahead of that game!!

I've been waiting on my new Cometic type head gaskets for like 6 wks. No show, so I ended up putting 1020's on my 428 again. Been running them for years with no problems, but since these new Cometic steel gaskets came out they are suppose to be the cats azz. That is when they finally get them made for a the FE.
Russ..........a lift?? SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!
Some day, some way.........

. It would also give me enough room to add a lift in the rear of stall
Well, zoning nixed that right away
Back to square one!
...anyone want to buy a nice house w/4 car garage. Apparently I did NOT move far enough into the country

I just couldn't justify it. Another $1300 for a few more ponies I'm already having trouble putting to the ground.
Plus, I'm out of a truck at the moment. I'm used to having one handy. The SS doesn't do truck work so well.
Hopefully, this will get me back to truckin' soon with an occasional romp at the track. I think she'll go 13s with the new TC, shifter and the motor running consistently.
