Hi guys, Ive been intersted in the New Body style expeditions lately.
I test drove one the other day at my ford dealer. It was a 2005 XLT Sport 4x4, Black exterior and that grey interior. It was an awesome looking truck. It also had the 5.4L which was much more powerful than my 98' 5.4.
Now, if i decide to buy it I want to lift it about 6" and possibly put 35" or 37" tires. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of a lifted '04 or '05 Expedition. If you do please post them.
The only lift for these things is a 2" spacer kit from Daystar. It's pretty cheap, about $250, but that's it. I'm guessing none of the big lift kit companies want to deal with the Gen II Expy because of the indepent rear suspension. The 03's have been out for almost 3 years and still nothing. We'll probably see solid axle conversions for this thing before we see a 6" lift for the fully independent suspension. The scarey part, when you think about how expensive that lift would be, it might actually be cheaper to do a solid axle conversion! And I'd bet money the conversion would be more reliable than the lift.
Maybe when mine's paid off and the warranty runs out I'll get a little ambitious to do somethin silly with it.
Considering how long it took Ford to tame the driveline/axle issues on this bodystyle Expy, I'm not sure I'd be thinking about any kind of lift on it...
Don't know where you saw that, but it was a misprint. Look in their downloadable catalog, they only have listings for the Gen I Expy (97-02). Plus, the F-150 runs a solid axle rear, totally different from the Gen II Expy's. I do think the new Expy would look tough lifted.
Hey Polarbear, as far as the driveline/axle issues, I'm thinkin scrap 'em and swap in a set of D60's. Bombproof and bad ***.
Well, now I guess its back to the dealer to buy my Black Expedition. Man that truck looks good on 37's!!!!!
It look slike that kit would cost a pretty penny. If i had to guess I would say easily $2500-$3000.

You're probably in the right ball park. I'm actually quite scared to see the price tag on it. Being as it will be the only one on the market, they can charge just about anything they want. Hopefully it will light a fire under some other companies though.
