Strange "miss"????

Hi Folks

Have a 2001 F350 4x4 with auto tranny. Seems like once a week starting about 3-4 months or so back, as I was driving home it would sorta skip or miss for just a fraction of a second. I would be about 3 miles down the road from a cold engine. I would also be accelerating(it seems like it happens almost exactly between 2.5-3.5 miles down the road and only in the afternoons, not on the morning drive to work) but no where near aggressive at all. Rural residential area with kids just sorta slowly climbing to 55-60.

Yesterday it did it about the same place on the road. Hmmm weekly thing. Then less than a minute later it did it harder and I actually saw my RPMs start to fall(fell about 2-300 and then right back to 2K)

Not sure where to look, what causes it, why its not every day etc...mechanical, electrical???(can't be tranny because RPMs would go the other way if slipping???)

And I do step on the foot feeder hard at times and kick the turbo in, but its never done it (yet) under hard feed. Just only on that gradual feed.

I'm very confused.

Thanks, Jeff

ps the auto email notification hasn't worked for me lately-- does it work for ya'll?

Jumpy tach? CPS going out most likely. Camshaft Position Sensor. Avoid Ford dealer and go to International and buy one for (your year production) T444E. Same engine, same part, a lot less expensive!
For more info, do a search, there's a LOT of posts on this one.
