They protect your rotors from road debris. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has them, not sure for how much. I think they were cheap, but I might be thinking of something else. They're not 100% necessary.
Thanks. Ill check it out. I might go without for a while. It takes a lot to get to them. I drive 99% on the road. Never in the mud. Yet anyway. I want some good all around tires. Cooper has some nice looking new ones. Im debating on mud type or the all terrain type radials. I guess theyre good, but I like the look of the mud and snow type. I dont like my lugs getting packed with clay.
PS, that "hub" dude seems a little hot headed.
GT65, Mine too are rusted away and vibrate like heck when I pull out from a stop, which highly annoying. I have to replace my rotors anyway and will throw those on the scrap heap while I'm at it. andym is right about them protecting your rotors from road debris, but I think they also act like heat sheilds(LOL). Like said before they're not really necessary.
Both me and a friend of mine took ours off. He was having heating problems, I just didn't see the need to have them on. I went out mudding yesterday, and it sure makes it easier to clean the junk out when those things aren't in the way
gt65 - I have Dueler A/T Revos - these tires are incredible. They've never left me stuck anywhere, including when I crossed a "dry" lake bed that was actually covered with a foot of water because of a storm. I've also driven them through places I should have gotten stuck with my old 4x2. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I paid about $120 each at Costco for the LT235/75R15 size. P tires were a little cheaper, but I wanted the stronger sidewalls.
