i have ordered a new 3" down pipe and figured while it is off the truck i might as well install a pyrometer now how close to the turbo do you drill the hole, please reply thanks.
if you dont already have a pre turbo pyro, dont waste your time putting one post turbo. do it right and put it before the turbo the the exhaust manifold. if you already have one pre turbo then i would say get it as close to the turbo as you can

I just got my pyrometer as well..My autometer instructions say to drill the hole 2-3 inches from the turbo (pre turbo of course)..however, most people on this forum say that drilling into the driver's side manifold is better then before the turbo because the exhaust gas temperature will register faster...there are some great installation instructions online that people will hopefully post
Dieselmanor.com has a good how-to with color pictures and how to install a full set, including a Pyro, they have some good prices on them also. On the right go to install sheets and scroll down to install guages on powerstroke, I tried to link but it gets hijacked to motorhaven
