Disgusts me that is!!! This months savvy driving tips for mud, and I quote-"Mud is the scariest off-road terrain on the planet because it's always changing. Our best advice is to drive around as much of it as you can." I guess thats just the kind of advice you could expect from an editor that thinks a review of a wheelbarrow is justifiable because it says "Jeep" on it!! Then again, it might have something to do with being used to pushing a jeep- pretty much a normal thing to jeep people isnt it?? pushing pulling and retreiving parts for them
I always thought the snow covered glaciers in Iceland were the scariest with the snow covered 300+ foot drop ravines and mud was actually the fun stuff.
I do all my magazine reading at the auto parts counter now while waiting for parts. I have not bought one in a long time except to get the ads. Either I out grew them or the coverage got worse and they repeat the same old thing issue after issue. Can"t decide which one it is.
Now if that statement was true then why do people enjoy building rigs with big power, big tires, and big lift to see who can through the deepest nastiest mud the fastest?
Hey, hey!! Be nice to the folks that build huge trucks just to drive them around town!
I WOULD mud bog if I had a place to fix my broken trail messes. Unfortunately, I have neither the place to fix it or friends that would be able to rescue me if I did break. Foremost, I have not the funds to have my truck professionally extracted from the goo.
On a similar note, yesterday I got the TTC DVD from 2 years ago as a trial thing....sent it back this morning. Actually, it was pretty good. However, if I were to pay for it, it would end up just like all the sportbike videos I have....watch 'em once and never again.
i still subscribe to car craft cant justify the money for the 4x4 rags yet none feature anything but jeeps or chebby. at least car craft builds stuff on a real buget and knows what a junk yard is.
When I was about 14, I had a subscription to Car Craft and 4W&OR. Back then, they had real world trucks(and cars) and did budget buildups. I loved both of them mags. Now I'm not so sure. And BTW, I remember plenty of letters to the editor suggesting that they change the name chevy craft.
Yeah, and what is the deal with jeeps. Don't get me wrong, Jeeps are a good off-road vehicle, but c'mon, they're not the only capable 4x4. And besides, they were built at the factory with spare parts left over from whatever Chrysler didn't feel like paying to have someone haul their scrap away.

A little note for future reference. When they send you these DVD's as a "trial" and you don't request them you don't have to send them back. It's illegal to send you something you didn't request and then bill you for it. They'll usually send you a bill a month later and then you give them a call and tell them to %$^& off or you'll report them. Or do what I did when you get your bill and write on it that you never received said DVD. Then they'll send you another one (for your buddy) and THEN you can tell them to go screw themselves.
Wow, I'm surprised that they are still doing that with the dvd's considering how many people called them and chewed them out. When I got mine and the bill I called them up; told them what anatomically improbably things they could do with themselves, and btw, thanks for the free dvd.
I keep hoping for another one but maybe I screwed up my chances
I still got another. I would keep a subscription going for them as I enjoy the DVD's but they screw you royally. The first on is something like $8 or $9. I can live with that . . . it's more than reasonable. Then they start charging $20+s&h for all the rest.
