Could mean it's time for an engine overhaul. I knew a guy that rebuilt a Chevy 396 once and he had low oil pressure after a ring job and new oil pump. Seems the main bearings on the crank were worn to the point that the oil flowed right through the bearing area thus lowering the pressure. He rebuilt it a second time, replaced the crank, cam and all the bearings and it was fine after that.

Could the pick-up be too close to the oil pan, blocking the flow?

The crank may be worn, especially if the pressure drops at idle after warm-up.

Good Luck
