I just bought a 2000 F150 and the owner's manual is missing. I put the key in and turned it to "off", but it doesn't stay. I know I'm doing something wrong, so I need a little guidance.
Just turn it to the right, and pull out the key while in that position. Look for the "OFF" light to come on. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad air bag switch. Check your instrument cluster. Do you see a yellow, seated figure with an airbag going off in his face? That means something is wrong with your airbag system. My passenger side switch "OFF" light stopped working. The dealer wanted to charge me $100 just to look at it. I drove to the local junk yard, pulled a switch from a wrecked Ford, paid $3, and installed it in my truck. Bingo. Everything works fine.
