shocking questions

Once again, the cart precedes the horse. I've already ordered gas-charged shocks for the front of the '64 and am ready to go shopping for the air shocks I want on the back. Are they compatible? Any tips on the best air shocks to go with?

Rancho makes a real good air shock. They also have a set that you can adjust the air pressure from inside the truck. I have a 80 Bronco that has 33" Tires on it and I am running the rancho air shocks.

For a light duty 2WD street truck without "bigger" tires, a set of regular Monroe "MA" series air shocks would suit you fine. Monroe and Rancho are both Tenneco brands, Rancho is more geared toward the off-road market, Monroe is more a "street" oriented brand. (Not "street rod", just "street".....) The Rancho line has a lot of "beat the heck out of the truck out in the woods" benefits, as well as longer travel and extended length availability for the lift-kit crowd. And that sweet adjustability option, too! Great shocks, nothing bad to say about them, but for regular haulin' a load here and there kind of situations, the basic Monroe branded air shocks would be a more cost-effective solution. But the Rancho's do look a lot cooler, too! Personally, I have put Monroe Gas Magnums on everything I own, from the '65 F250 2WD to the '02 F350 4x4, and everything in between, except the '89 F150 4x4, which has a set of regular Monroe air shocks on the rear, but only to stiffen up the rear when I need to pull a trailer with it..... The Gas mags are pretty stiff, though.... if you don't mind a truck riding like a truck, they are excellent!
