I have always said backpressure is not a good thing, and have argued here that backpressure is not required for trq, velocity is.Anyway this is pretty much the only forum i visit on FTE and most of you know my exhaust rants about headers with single exhaust etc.I found some good reading for my fellow V10er's. Enjoy.
In the early years of Fred there was a guy smoking all our butts at the Tenino/Olympia 3/8th asphalt track. We all ran hobby stock claimer races and thus could not risk large dollars in the motor or drive train. A young fellow named Millican (you have seen this name if you follow racing) use to wear our butts out and lead by over half lap in every race.
His "trick": 360degree exhaust system and "balancers" known to you fellows as "X" or "H" cross over pipes.
I went to school on exhaust systems and have been experimenting for the last 30 years.

Although the introduction of limited back pressure can allow you to use the "waves" as mentioned in a more constructive manner.
The likes of a Honda requires a certain amount of backpressure, as they have these "waves" set up so when VTEC kicks in, so does the resonance of these "waves".
In a V10 on the other hand it makes little difference.
I have tried around 10 different custom made exhaust systems on my 5.4, and it is currently my "power bottleneck".

You too at Tenino ? Good grief, a fun track for sure. All my stories of working with the Winston West team involved Tenino, Portland Raceway (now closed) and a dirt track in St Helens (after the Tenino/Portland crashes). Ken
