I left a post yesterday about this truck. Truck has a 460 fuel injected/ 5 speed. I have now changed the cap and rotor, fuel filter, plugs wire and fuel pressure regulator and it still idles very rough, almost to the point of stalling when push the clutch in and hold the brake and there is still a horrible miss. Any help would be appreciated
The wires are all tight on cap and plug. And i checked to see that none of the wires are crossed. So i really don't no what to do next. thanks for the suggestion
Are any of your wires that fire in sequence touching each other? I don't know if that makes any sense or not, but I have heard of that being a problem on some of the engines.
Did it miss before the tuneup? Have you checked the coil or the ignition module? That is the only other thing I can think of at the moment.

Here is my original post, put the truck was missing before the tune up and i found i had a couple of dead wires.
"I was wondering if anyone had any clue what happened today....The truck was running fine, got to where I was going, ahut the truck off for about 10 minutes. When i went to leave, it started fine, ran good for a few minutes. Then i got out on the highway and the truck started to bog down/starve for fuel. There was plenty of fuel in the tank but i switched to the rear tank and that seemed to solve the problem. Temporarily. Now the truck idles really rough, missing bad at idle, slight miss on the road. I changed the cap and rotor(rotor and cap carbon tracked bad) also i changed the fuel filter. None of these seemed to change anything....
Any Suggestions? "
Your original post talked about fuel starvation and I would concentrate on that area. Is your fuel pressure constant? You might want your in-tank fuel pumps tested. Are you sure you didn't get a tank of bad gas. Is it cold where you would experience icing in the fuel lines because of excess water in the gas?
Pull the spark plugs to check injectors. The cylinder with the bad injector(s) will have a clean spark plug, while the cylinders with good injectors will be gassy. This is due to the ECM richening up the mixture to balance the fuel ratio. Why don't you try changing the filter first?
I hate to be the one to mention it, but how old is the catalyic convertor? Wonder if it is going bad on you. When the engine is hot, look under to see if the cat is cherry red. Had this happen to a friend who described something similar as you did. He too was looking at the fuel system, but his cat was bad.
This truck is still not running. I put a timing chain in it, didn't really need one but the boss said to do it. The truck was no better after the change on friday and now it barely wants to start without holding the gas pedal to the floor (its injected)
About a year ago my uncle's truck was doing the same thing, it is an 88 with a 302 5 speed. He told me that he changed the distributor and that is was the problem. I don't know why and I don't think he did either, but that fixed it. I don't really like changing parts without a reason or without knowing that they are bad, I never did figure that one out though.
Hey thank you for all your help. But i have since gotten to the root of one of the problems. I pulled the valve cover off to make sure number one was up, and low and behold, I managed to shatter a valve spring into three pieces. Can't find the keeper and I think I shattered the piston.
