no fuel to engine
Truck started same as usual the other day then died and would not start again.
Have plenty of spark, checked fuel... there is none going from the fuel transfer valve underneath.
When i took the fuel lines from the tanks loose there was fuel in the main lines of both, However it does not appear to be going past the valve, wich was replaced in september'04.
Is it possible for the transfer switch mounted on the dash to cause this sort of problem?
I have read several post on here that say their transfer valve has no wires to it, and that it could be bypassed;mine has a long connector with about 5-6 wire connections on it.
Could use some help on this one !
If you aren't getting power to the fuel pumps, I would check the fuel pump relay, the selector switch, and the inertia switch. On your truck, the fuel pump relay wiring may also be wired through the oil pressure sending unit - if you lose oil pressure, voltage to the pump is cut off as a safety measure. (I've been rewiring my '87 F250 460 the last few weeks so I've been learning along the way.)
I am sure others on this forum have more experience with your problem. Hope I could help a little.
Replaced the fuel pump relay the other day... the relay clicks after you turn the motor over, does not click with just the key being turned on.
Also checked the inertia switch last night, it had not been tripped.
I have noticed though that when i turn the key on the oil pressure guage needle moves to low and then suddenly moves all the way to the left of the guage...
will try the selector switch this evening.
Are the fuel pumps and sending units tied into the transfer valve where the electrical haness plugs into it??
