This was the first time I changed the oil and filter myself in my 2004 Explorer and the "Oil change required" light stays on. I guess when Ford changes your oil, they reset the light, but I don't know how and can't find the darn owners manual. Can someone tell me how to reset this light??
This process works on the 97-01. Not sure about your year.
To reset the oil life feature on the Message Center, press and hold the "OIL CHANGE RESET" button until the system counts down (about 5 seconds). The Message Center will display "OIL LIFE RESET TO 100%"

Thanks, but............
I just tried that, did not work. There is no "Oil change reset" button. But there is a "Reset" button. I held that and it it does reset the light but, it eventually lights up again. And I don't get a message "Oil life reset to 100%". I'm thinking it's a little different then the 97-01 models.
