if the mustang 2 front end is 60 inchs what would be a go for the rear axle and i have a chev bolt patten 5 on 4 3/4 so what would be a good rear axle for me 48 f-1 frame 48 coe body
Tomoto I'm a bit confused about what you are asking. Could you try again. First a Mus2 front end is NOT 60" however the kit you may have could be as that is one of the widths that is sold using a lengthed crossmember to fit non stock width applications. If you are asking what rear ends fit your truck, is 60" wide and has a 4 3/4 x 5 bolt pattern, I don't know as that isn't a Ford pattern. There is probably a link someone could point you to.
If you are looking for a GM rear with 5 on 4.75 pattern close to 60 inches in width, these are the rear ends you should look for: 78-87 Malibu and Monte Carlo, 67-72 Pontiac GTO, Lemans, Firebird and Camaro, and 68-74 Nova, Buick Apollo, Pontiac Ventura, and Olds Omega. All of these rear ends are very close to 60 inches wide. I'm sure there are later models also close to this width, but these have been around awhile and the measurements are well known.
You could use the Ford 9" rearend and order new axles with the 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern or have the original axles redrilled to that pattern at a machine shop. As far as width, do a search on rearends on this forum. I imagine it has been discussed. Another idea is to view the 48-52 galleries and if someone notes they are using a Ford 9" send them an email requesting information on what they used. 56FUN
my is 60 inchs from the bolts to bolts . and that what TCI said it is.and its to narrow by 5 1/2 inchs per side.I'm just trying to have one spare tire .thanks
Now I'm getting confused. If you purchased a TCI Mustange 2 didn't it come with the Ford 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern or did you specifically request the Ch++y pattern?
i had a 83 chev pickup classis given to me and thats how this miss started.I was told that i had a 5, 4 3/4 bolt pattern so that what i order ,but the pickup has a 5 , 5 bolt pattern. and the chev axle is to long i think. so I'm trying to make is work , I don't want to have 2 spare tires
Looks to me like your most inexpensive options are to use the original Ford rearend and have the axles redrilled to 5 on 4 3/4" (if the rearend gear ratio is satisfactory to you) or purchase a GM rearend like Great Northwoods suggested.
Just for information purposes, the only GM truck with 5 on 4.75 pattern is the Chevy S-10 or GMC S-15. Depending on what wheels you plan to use you might get away with using a rear end with a 5 on 4.5 pattern from a Ford Truck and keep the 5 on 4.75 for the front. Many aftermarket wheels have the holes for both patterns. I did that on 29 Ford I had. I was using Gennie Wheels from Paulsen Wheels with 48 Ford styled hubcaps. With the dual pattern, the wheels fit the 5 on 4.75 front as well as the 5 on 4.5 rear. Also, you could consider replacing the rotors with those with a 5 on 4.5 pattern.
