knock diagnosis

i've got a knock one one my motors, it mainly knocks at idle goes away at higher rpm with nothing discernable at those rpms. i don't think its a tap in the valve train, but i don't know. what could it possibly be.

Could be a wrist pin bushing going. The FEs are noted for having this issue.

Could be any number of things. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say timing chain stretch. That can make a knock at idle.

Get out a stethoscope and probe around, there are other methods for finding noises too. Check the fuel pump as these can make a knock. You could also disable 1 cylinder at a time and run it and see if the knock goes away, if it does then you have probably found the problem area. I'm sure some other guys will jump in here
