Hey Guys,
gotta question...truck died while driving on freeway and havent been able to start it ive got fuel in all injectors and the pump seems to be working fine, its turning over but wont fire. got it to almost start once while someone sprayed a started fluid into it while cranking but everything seems fine up until the injector pump. its a pricey part so i want to make sure thats what it is before replacing. Thanks a lot

how are your glow plugs? do you have power to them? Also when did you change your fuel filter? read your post better. Died on freeway --- did you get fuel just before this? If you did - you might have gotten some bad or dirty fuel. Change the filter- you might be getting some fuel thru but maybe not enough to start it. Hope this helps.
I've only seen a couple injector pumps go bad. When they did fuel had gotten into the oil cause of the seals in the pump leaked. I'd agree with maybe a fuel filter.
if you break the fuel line to the cylinders ,, is there a lot of fuel flowing there while cranking the engine over for a short period? Also might want to check the shut off wire on the pump and make sure it is working, you may have blown the fuse.
Had one customer that suffered from a broken rotor inside the injection pump. Had lots of water in his fuel tank --- that does not compress and really causes problems.
Fuel pump pressure would be a good place to start too............
Do pressure and flow test on the fuel at the Schrader valve on the filter(FSS- fuel shutoff switch disconnected). Remove the tire valve core and hook a hose and pressure guage on it should see 4-6 psi when cranking. Then do a fuel quantity test same place, should see 1/3 pint in 10 seconds of engine cranking, route fuel to a suitable container with a hose.
If there is a problem with the lift pump and you are changing it, ensure the new pump comes with instructions as to correct installation proceedure if it is the newer model pump with the almost straight arm.
