I have a 1986 F-150 exten cab, 5.0, auto, 4WD it's stock except K&N filter. My question is can this truck handle pulling a trailer with a Nissan, Altima all the time? Can it be beefed up to handle it? If so how?
Do I need to look for a F-250?

I tow all the time using various trucks with either six or
V-8 engines and would advise you install a tranny cooler, lot cheaper than a re-build. Also, I'd change the tranny filter more often, and I always put in a quart of Lucas for good luck.
