86 engine w/ serpentine ?

86 engine w/ serpentine ?
I have just gotten a 87 f-150 4x4. problem I am having is figuring out what someone has done the the motor. vin states it is a 87 5.0. 302. I am now having a problem with the water pump. got one but it does not fit, wthe coolant ports are reverse. The parts man says that 87 up has a serpentine belt and the watepump should fit. prior years all had v-belts . This timing cover also has a hole for the dip stick. which should be from an 86'. My big question is how do I have in this truck an 86' motor with a serpentine set up, and will my water pump be turning in the correct direction to cool the motor properly. 86's and 87's dont circulate the same..Does ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS ENGINE !!! HELP PLEASE !
