Engine Compression Question?

What is the desireable compression for my '67 352. It has almost 77,000 miles on it, and I checked the compression yesterday and I there is 150 psig on all 8 cylinders.

Just wondering of this is a good number.

Thanks!

Sounds pretty good to me. And if all cylinders were close to the same value that's also good. Most shop manuals don't give a PSI reading for compression testing. Too many variables like cam timing etc. But they do spec that all cylinders must be within a % of each other. I think it's like 10% variation.

Yeah, that's pretty good... 150 is about dead-on...

My '79 Motors Truck Repair manual says for a '67 352, it should be 140. So you're good

Yep...Sounds good to me..as long as the highest cylinder and the lowest are within 10% of each other your good to go!!

Thanks guys!

I was really surprised at the results, from the age of the truck and the engine.

Yeah, that is pretty good! And like RapidRuss said, 10% variation is the max, so getting 150 on every cylinder is amazing...

Good luck with it!
