How many miles

How many break in miles did you all put on your V10 before you would see what it would do? I can tell the power is there but I want to break it in the right way because I plan on driving this truck for a long time!

not for at least 1k. change the oil at 500 and 1k then 3k and every 3k after like going to church. after 1k you will feel some more kick . the 05 v10 is a awsome gas motor. best of luck with it.

I am fairly conservative the first 1K doing as many hot to cold cycles as is practical. From 1K to 3 K I start to feed her power a little harder but still no max perforamnce stuff. After 3k once during every trip I deliberatly go for the big grin with a romp up to red line and back out of her but no sustained high rpm running. I am at 9800 miles this week and she still feels tight to me. I got progressivly better mpg and felt a little more power out of the 2001 V10 out to 13,000 miles where she got stable and stayed until I killed her at 47,800 miles. My 7.3L PSD took a full 18,000 miles to fully break in.
