loves gas
carrying 400lbs + driver. Starts, runs, idles etc. fine. New wires,
cap, rotor, plugs and running synthetic-blend and a new P V(on about
10 merc to full on about 25 merc) but is not hooked up to vaccum.
I was tunning the carb and left the P V off to adjust the main jets.
New float and adjusted; starts, runs, lugs well. Changed main jets
from 54 to 45 and achieved 18 mpg intown and country(hill) driving.
Now loves gas(5.0 mpg). Everything except the
ignition(TFI) is off the computer. The ignition is advanced for a
slight ping at a hard pull on a hot day. It was mentioned that the
P V may be shot but there was no backfiring to destroy the valve.
Haven't taken it off and checked to see if the valve is staying closed
(still winter here). Also there could be a plug in one of the drilled
passages that is not sealing(Has this been a problem). Any suggestions
will be appreciated.
